I must admit I wasn't expecting to find amazing food on my recent trip to Northumberland. It was more about celebrating my Mum's 70th and having windswept walks along Bamburgh beach with the family. The Potted Lobster in the tiny village of Bamburgh, then, was an absolute gift. A tiny, cosy, beautifully lit bistro that served fantastic local seafood, including the best Lindesfarne (that's Holy Island to you and I) oysters of all time. I would make the four hour journey all over again just to go back. And I will.
